Creating a video folder in Panopto allows you to keep all your videos for different subjects or courses organized.
Q: What's the difference between folders and playlists?
A: Folders keep all of your videos in one area, while playlists allow you to keep videos together and allow viewers to watch them in a series.
Folders are for the creator to manage and organize the different types of videos made, while playlists are a series of videos covering a specific topic, lecture, or chapter.
For example, you may have a number of playlists inside one folder.

Notes about folders & using My Folder in Panopto
- Panopto folders will be created under a parent folder.
- If you have access to Panopto check for the "My Folder" tab. This will be your parent folder.
- You may create several folders under the parent folder.
- If you do not have access to the "My Folder" tab, contact your administrator or local IT help desk.
There are two ways to create folders in Panopto, while both methods are relatively the same, they may require you to access a different source. You can create folders in the Panopto-Canvas integration, or on the Alamo Colleges Panopto host site.
In this guide, we will walk you through creating folders in Canvas and in the Alamo Colleges hosted site.
1. Launch Canvas through ACES.
2. Select Panopto Course Videos in Canvas tabs.
To ensure your folders get created in the correct parent folder, select the drop-down arrow to choose a parent folder.
3. Select My Folder.
4. Now that you have selected the correct parent folder, simply type in the +Add Folder textbox the name of a folder you would like to create.
5. Your folders will appear in the My Folder tab.
6. Select a folder to see your playlists or create new ones. You can create several playlists inside a folder.
Success! Now you know how to use the parent folder and create subfolders in Panopto.

You will be directed to sign into ACES.
2. Once you've logged in, Panopto's website will open.
Select My Folder > +Add Folder.
