Working with Non-Fillable PDFs in Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat makes it easy to complete and sign documents—even when they aren’t set up as fillable forms. This guide shows you how to add text to a flat (non-fillable) PDF and place your signature using simple built-in tools.

By the end of this guide, you’ll be able to quickly fill out and sign documents without needing to recreate or redesign the original form.

How to Add Text and Sign Documents

Step 1: Access Adobe Acrobat Online

  1. Go to acrobat.adobe.com
  2. Sign in with your Adobe account

Step 2: Upload Your File

  1. In the top menu, click ConvertConvert to PDF
  2. Drag and drop your file, or click Add a file
  3. Click Continue

Step 3: Add Text to Your Form

  1. Open your file in the PDF viewer
  2. In the left panel, select Text (Type Text)
  3. Click anywhere on the document
  4. Start typing

Success! You can now add text to any flat PDF form—no redesign needed.
