Video Tutorial
Process Steps
- Enable New Quizzes in the Course Settings > Feature Options tab.
- Navigate to your final exam in the Quizzes Index page in the course and select Migrate from the Options menu [three vertical dots].
- The New Quiz will begin to import to the course at the bottom of the Quizzes Index Page. Once it has processed, refresh the browser page so it appears next to the Classic Quiz of the same title.
NOTE: Once the quiz migration has processed in New Quizzes, you may receive an email notification from Instructure Canvas for a "Course Export Finished." THIS IS NORMAL and should not be considered suspicious activity.
- The Classic Quiz will have a transparent (i.e. hollow or empty) rocket ship icon next to its title, and the New Quiz will have a solid (i.e., filled-in) rocket ship icon next to the Quiz title. It is important that you leave the New Quiz item with the solid rocket ship UNPUBLISHED so it does not factor into final grade calculations or confuse students as to which version of the exam they should complete.
- From the Options menu of the New Quiz (i.e., the one with the solid rocket ship icon), select Build. This will open the New Quiz interface for your final exam.
NOTE: If you had settings such as shuffle questions/answers, show one question at a time, or a time limit, we recommend you disable these in the Settings tab of the New Quiz. View this Instructure guide for more information on managing New Quiz settings.
- From the Build tab, select the Options menu [three vertical dots] in the upper right corner, then select Print Blank Quiz from the options list.
- A "Print Quiz" dialog box will display; we recommend using the default Medium text size. Select Print Preview.
- A preview of the New Quiz will display, followed by a "Print" dialog box. Select Save as PDF from the Destination picklist, followed by the appropriate settings.
NOTE: If the Print dialog box does not appear in the Preview interface, use Ctrl+A or Command+A to select all of the text on the exam, then right- or secondary- click to Print. This will open the Print dialog box where you can then enable the option "selection only" under More Options/Settings.
TIP: For a seamless file, we recommend disabling the setting/option "Print headers and footers."
- Click Save and select your preferred location to save the PDF file to your device.
IMPORTANT: Give your Quiz a unique File name such as "1412 Final" to prevent overwriting the downloaded PDFs from your other preps.
- Once you are finished, hit Return [A] in the upper right or Exit Preview [B] in the bottom right to exit the New Quiz Preview interface.
