AlamoBOOKS+ Course Materials (Faculty)

Beginning in Spring 2022, the Alamo College District will partner with Barnes & Noble College (BNC) bookstores to offer students a new course material delivery program called AlamoBOOKS+ that provides students access to their required course materials by the first day of class.

With this program, the college Bookstore offers students a convenient package for physical course materials and your digital course materials delivered directly in Canvas through the AlamoBOOKS+ Digital Course Materials app. This guide will assist you with enabling and placing this app in the Canvas course navigation menu so students can easily locate and access the digital course materials for your course.

If students request physical course materials for your classes, please direct them to the college Bookstore associated with the course.

In Canvas

The AlamoBOOKS+ Digital Course Materials app is enabled by default in every Canvas course.

Navigate to a Canvas course and select the course Settings link [A] at the bottom of the left-hand course navigation menu, then navigate to the Navigation tab [B] to manage your course navigation links.

  1. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page where you will find the AlamoBOOKS+ Digital Course Materials link towards the bottom of "hidden" items list.
  1. Click the Options icon [3 vertical dots] to the right of the link and select Enable. This will place the link at the bottom of your course navigation menu.

Place the link higher in the list so it will be more prominent to students.

  1. Scroll down to the bottom of the Navigation page and click Save to finalize the placement.
  1. Refresh the page and click on the link to ensure the app can be accessed by students.

Repeat these steps in any additional courses that require digital materials for you and your students.

1. The first step is to open Canvas Course and click Settings.

3. Scroll down and click Options Menu.

5. Scroll up and click AlamoBOOKS+ Digital Course Materials

6. With your mouse, click and drag AlamoBOOKS+ Digital Course Materials, then drop it within its respective section.
